About the group
The Sopron group of the Liszt Ferenc Society was formed in 1974,
its first president was Alpár Nagy. According to the Statutes
of the Society, the group considers as its central aim the cultivation
and the propagation of the spiritual heritage of Liszt. The group
promotes the performance of Liszt’s compositions and the
unveiling of their connections to Hungary and to Sopron. As the
whole of the Society, the Sopron group would also like to provide
a meeting place for people who want to promote live music performances.
Therefore the group organizes lectures, concerts, exhibitions,
professional meetings and issues publications. The memorial plaques
on the Bezerédj-house, the Storno-house, the manor house
of Sopronhorpács, as well as the memorial plaque on the
Bartók house in Sopron witness the activity of the group.
The Sopron group of the Liszt Society has good connections with
the artists and the cultural associations of the town. The most
important programs of the group are the musical soirées
organized with the collaboration of well-known Hungarian and foreign
artist. Since 1998 Emõke Rázó, later Péter
Kuzsner is the president of the group.
